Structured financing routes with a Czech partner.
An overview of Czech minority co-production support and regional funding options
Co‑producing with the Czech Republic
The Czech Republic offers dedicated support for European minority co‑productions, providing financing for projects that involve a Czech partner and make meaningful use of Czech talent, services, or locations. The annual budget for minority co‑production support is currently around CZK 40 million (approximately EUR 1.5 million).
Support is available for feature films, TV projects, animation, and documentaries that are structured as official international co‑productions and meet the relevant creative and financial criteria. Projects are usually assessed on the strength of their overall artistic quality, the level of Czech artistic and technical participation, the use of Czech locations or elements, and the planned distribution or broadcasting in the Czech Republic.
Applications are submitted through regular calls for minority co‑production support, typically announced twice per year. As a Czech minority co‑producer, we guide partners through the process, from structuring the co‑production and aligning the finance plan to preparing the necessary materials for submission.
Our recent experience includes In Love and War, which received Czech minority co‑production support, where we acted as the Czech partner and managed the local financing and execution.

An additional layer
of support, where the project genuinely fits.
In addition to national schemes and minority co‑production support, selected regions in the Czech Republic operate their own funds for projects that bring a clear local benefit.
The Prague Audiovisual Fund supports audiovisual projects that depict Prague as itself and contribute to the city’s international profile, across feature films, series, documentaries, and animation destined for cinema, television, or VOD. For projects where the story is genuinely set in Prague – and where Prague appears on screen as Prague rather than as a stand‑in – this can provide an additional layer of support alongside other elements of the finance plan.
Other regional funds, including those in South Moravia, the Moravian‑Silesian Region, Ústí nad Labem and Zlín, focus on productions that shoot locally, work with regional professionals and services, and present the area on screen. Each fund has its own criteria, timelines, and budgets, so relevance depends on the story, production set‑up, and practical logistics of each project.
We can advise on whether regional funding is realistically applicable to a project and how it might slot into the broader financing strategy. For an up‑to‑date overview of regional funds and guidelines, you can also refer to the Czech Film Commission’s information on regional funding.
